Environmental Near Surface Imaging
Environmental Near Surface Imaging
We have been contracted to process many shallow seismic reflection data sets. These types of surveys usually involve imaging topography and internal structures within bedrock less than 100 metres below ground surface or water-bottom. A number of these surveys are in shallow marine environments with water depths of less than 5 meters. Unconventional processing of near-surface seismic data is often required because shallow sub-surfaces can be characterized by high velocity gradients and complicated structures. We have developed a comprehensive processing flow using internally developed techniques. Included in this flow are effective noise suppression algorithms, careful attention to Deconvolution parameters and offset muting selections. High density velocity analysis also augments our ability to accurately image shallow targets.
These shallow targets are often of interest to oil sands operators to assist in mine development planning and for engineering firms specializing in the construction of pipelines, who need to identify potential hazards including faults and irregular structures within bedrock.
