Inversion based spectral enhancement – HFE
Performs high-frequency enhancement of seismic data in 3D. The reflectivity series is extracted from the data. The reflectivity is convolved with a broad-band wavelet to produce the high-frequency output
The process will normally be run on post-stack data. The frequency enhancement filtering process uses a zero-phase filter therefore the input seismic data should be zero phase.
The final high-frequency enhanced data will typically have two humps in the frequency domain. The first hump will show the known spectrum of the data. The second hump will have a similar frequency range as the first hump but sits in the upper frequency band. The object is to shape and enhance the second hump of the data by specifying the band limits of the data to include both humps. The second hump can then be power boosted using a multiplier.
