DDO Seismic Data Archiving
|
|
Advanced Archival Systems
The primary
benefit of the DDO system is its ability to archive
seismic data and place them online for easy and
cost efficient retrieval. Magnetic tape, documents,
work station files and virtually any project data
can be stored together as a data set on a wide
variety of inexpensive and reliable archive medias.
Data that was previously stored off-site or in
file cabinets and map rooms can now be accessed
quickly and efficiently. Our system outputs all
information entered during archiving in an ASCII
file for easy input into a database. Quality control
software ensures that data output to tape or disc
is checked and any problems are addressed as the
data is archived. Recovery techniques can be applied
and many problems with existing data due to age
or mishandling can be repaired. The archived data
sets can be easily integrated to provide on-line
or near on-line access with existing data management
systems.
Additional Services
-
Bit for bit transfer: various data
formats such as SEG-A, SEG-B, SEG-C, SEG-D
and SEG-Y are reproduced on cartridge, optical
disk, CD-ROM, and disk pool exactly as they
were originally recorded.
-
Multiplexed tapes can be demultiplexed
and reformatted during compression, reducing
further processing requirements. and reformatted

requirements.
-
Data tapes containing signal compression
techniques, IFP, Binary Gain, or others can
be converted to a full 32 bit data range in
standard IBM computer exchange formats.
-
Geophysical tapes can be resampled
to lower sample rates for conservation of
computer processing time or to match software
or hardware limitations.
-
SEG-Y headers can be edited adding
additional information such as shotpoint and
survey coordinates for workstation loading.
-
A complete database allows access to
archived information instantly for retrieval
purposes.
